Thank you to all who attended our most recent Board meeting that featured Special Guest Brent Reems, Saanich Chief Administrative Officer (CAO).
We received some great feedback that the event was:
“Very informative”
“Fascinating”
“I learned a lot”
Following the CBRA Board Meeting, Brent spoke to the group and then held a lively Q&A Session.
He left with 2 questions to follow up on and here are his responses:
“There was a question about Gyro Park/Beach and whether there are park plans relating to sea level rise. Staff do not have specific plans in place at this point in time, but have been monitoring with our sustainability group using the mapping on sea level rise provided by the CRD. I provided staff in parks the comments about future concerns for the beach and they will continue to review.
There were questions about my comments around the tree canopy and comparators. Here is a link to the “state of urban forestry” report for those that are interested. There’s a table setting out some comparators on page 29. Our overall canopy cover (including rural Saanich) is the highest at 43%. UrbanForestReport_Feb2023.pdf (saanich.ca)“
Details on our next event, planned for April 24th, will be posted to our website and sent out in our eNewsletter in the coming weeks.
