Saanich Police reminds dog owners of bylaw rules

As more people are enjoying our parks and beaches during the warmer weather, Saanich Pound reminds dog owners of a few restrictions in place from May 1 to August 31. In these months, dogs are prohibited from the following locations:

Dog owners are also reminded of the year round leash restrictions on the perimeter trail at Cedar Hill Golf Course, in Rithet’s Bog, within 10m of playgrounds, and on all public school grounds.

Dogs are also prohibited from any fenced baseball field from March 1 to October 31, and from artificial turf sports fields.

Dogs and their owners have excellent access to parks and open space in Saanich. There are over 165 parks in Saanich and only 4 prohibit dogs from May to August. A further two parks, Swan Lake and Quick’s Bottom, prohibit dogs all year long, as they are sensitive nature sanctuaries.

Stay safe and keep your dogs under control at all times!
