  1. For several years, about 15 years ago, I led a group of volunteers, mostly women, on the Arbutus road loop . We designated them to specific close homes to visit several neighbours each, encouraging them to have an emergency kit, a HELP sign, a meeting place for families, a place for dogs, a system of runners to investigate all houses on the loop who might need urgent assistance. Wedgewood Estates initiated its own internal system
and the men practiced urgent first aid and communications systems.
Ironically all ran smoothly until Saanich got wind of it and intervened, disbanding our efforts, which by then had spread to cover virtually all of Ten Mile Point.
It is ironic that we are invited, too late in the day, to view what Saanich has on display today!
