Open House on new Penrhyn St. mixed-use project

On April 16th, 7pm, at Goward House (2495 Arbutus Road), Abstract Developments will hold a Community Open House on its proposed development on the heart of Cadboro Bay Village.

The project is a three-storey mixed-use project on the site of what is currently 2580 and 2588 Penrhyn Street (next to The Shieling) with retail units on the ground floor with attractively landscaped patio spaces in front, and two floors above, stepped back from the ground floor, with sixteen residential units.

In a letter sent out to all households in the area today, the developer explains:

Being located in Cadboro Bay Village, we have worked diligently on creating a design that will be sympathetic to the existing character of the neighbourhood. We feel the architectural detailing, including paneled bay windows, naturally treated cedar shakes, and traditional stone set amongst a modern retail façade reflect the surrounding residential uses while contributing to the village’s sense of place.

Our proposal will offer smaller retail units on the ground floor with attractively landscaped patio spaces in front, targeting local retail merchants. The two floors above will be stepped back from the ground floor to maintain an appropriate human scale, and will offer sixteen residential units.

We will be hosting a Community Open House to show you our preliminary proposal and get any feedback from you.

If you are unable to attend the Community Open House, Abstract say they “would be more than happy to arrange a time with you to meet and show you the plans at your convenience.”
