SCAN board learns about participatory budgeting process

At the suggestion of Linda Allen, Managing Partner of CitySpaces Consulting Ltd., the board of the Saanich Community Associations Network (SCAN) is learning about participatory budgeting, a growing trend in local government budget spending, with a view to seeing if it can be introduced into Saanich:

Participatory budgeting (PB) is a different way to manage public money, and to engage people in government. It is a democratic process in which community members directly decide how to spend part of a public budget. It enables taxpayers to work with government to make the budget decisions that affect their lives.
