Thank You Saanich: Tudor Avenue Median Planting

The Cadboro Bay Residents Association would like to thank the District of Saanich for planting the small median in the 3900 block of Tudor Avenue—a final step in the completion of the recent water-main upgrade project along the length of Tudor Avenue.

The median is a remnant pocket of green space in the middle of Tudor Avenue where a large Douglas fir tree once stood. Neighbours say the tree came down years ago and since that time the median became overgrown with invasive plant species and weeds.  Saanich Engineering and Parks crews removed the invasive plants and just installed new native and drought-tolerant plants species, reflective of the Coastal Douglas fir ecosystem.  The new plants are a welcome improvement to the median and contribute to the valued natural character of Ten Mile Point.

Special thanks to Eva Riccius, Senior Manager of Parks at the District of Saanich for her leadership in stewarding the project, and to the crew who completed the work.
