First beached boat of the season has been towed

From Eric Dahli, Chair of the Cadboro Bay Residents Association and founder of the Cadboro Bay Dead Boats Society:

The first boat of the season has hit the beach Sunday, April 7, 2019 (Saanich-side):

  • a Cal 23 or similar.
  • White hull blue deck.
  • There is a 5 hp Mercury on the stern.
  • There is no name, no number and the cabin is not secured, to-day there are buoys, life jackets and other collectables who knows what will be there tomorrow?

The owner may be a Jeff Kearney (250-812-4653), whose name was on a buoy, but the buoy is still out in the bay, and the boat is on the beach. I’ve spoken with Mr. Kearney and I am not sure what his plans are or if it is in fact his boat.

Thanks to members of the Bay Watch team for a possible connection between boat and owner.

Any and all assistance is requested and appreciated.

Update from Tim, of C-Tow Victoria & C-Tow Sidney, April 8, 2019, 8:10pm:

This vessel has been removed from the beach and placed back on its mooring. The removal had been reported to the ROC.
