An appeal from Barbara Newton of the Victoria Literacy Foundation:
Hello Everyone,
Can you spend a few minutes considering if you have a lead that could help
us find a new storage space. For a number of years we have had a space at
UPak in Esquimalt, but that is no longer available and we need to move our
teaching materials elsewhere.
Please consider if you have a business or personal contact who may be
willing to support literacy by providing a new storage location. Of course
they would be acknowledged at an in-kind sponsor and we would use our
regular social media and other communication tools to let the world know of
their generosity.
If you think of something, please make an initial phone call, or inquiry, since I will not be able to follow up on every idea, but I will follow up on any leads that you think are promising.
This is what we are looking for in a space:
- ideally free
- about the size of 1 standard bedroom
- accessible during the day, so in a business or storage facility is fine
- in Victoria, bordering Saanich, Esquimalt or Oak Bay so that it is
- reasonably located for staff
- free street parking, so not right downtown
Please consider who you know who might have ideas or space. It could be a business, an organization, even an individual with a garage that we could heat.
Appreciated,
Barbara Newton
