Yard and garden waste drop-off schedule change

After weeks of nightmarish, km-long lineups outside the Garden Waste Centre, Saanich has finally realised that to minimize contact between its residents seeking to dump their garden waste, they should expand the Centre’s hours of opening, not reduce them. Accordingly (from Saanich District’s website):

May 15, 2020

We’re pleased to announce that we’re expanding our service hours for the yard and garden waste drop-off site.

Effective Friday, May 15, our new temporary hours are:

  • Monday: 9 a.m. – 8 p.m. (closed May 18, Victoria Day)
  • Tuesday: 9 a.m. – 8 p.m.
  • Wednesday: Closed
  • Thursday: Closed
  • Friday: 9 a.m. – 8 p.m.
  • Saturday: 9 a.m. –  5 p.m.
  • Sunday: Closed

Summary:

  • Monday/Tuesday/Friday: 9 a.m. – 8 p.m.
  • Wednesday/Thursday/Sunday/Stat Holidays: Closed
  • Saturday: 9 a.m. – 5 p.m.

Thank you for continuing to maintain a safe physical distance while you are at the drop-off centre. We also ask that patrons do not line up prior to opening times and please do not block traffic.

Please note that the webcam is temporarily disabled as it does not give a clear view of the lineups due to traffic re-routing. Wait times can be as high as two hours for this popular service.

As the yard remains closed to normal business we ask that those visiting the yard and garden waste drop-off remain in their vehicles until they unload.

We greatly appreciate residents and our neighbours around Public Works for their patience and understanding during this time.
