We have just sent out the following email to members with details about CBRA’s response to Saanich regarding the UVic application to rezone Queenswood:
Dear CBRA members,
On Tuesday May 31st, on behalf of the residents of Cadboro Bay, the Cadboro Bay Residents Association submitted to the Municipality of Saanich, Planning Department, a response to the University of Victoria application to rezone Queenswood. Copies of the report were also submitted to Mayor Leonard and Council and to several representatives from UVic. The report is posted on the CBRA website. The results of the survey conducted at the AGM can be found in Appendix 2 of the report. In addition, a letter was sent to UVic’s President, Dr. Turpin, inviting him to discuss the Queenswood rezoning application. This letter is also on the CBRA website.
A press release has also been submitted to local media announcing the release of the report.
I would like to thank the Queenswood committee for all of their hard work in producing this extensive report and all the residents who attended the Annual General Meeting and completed the survey to help the committee provide concrete evidence of the reaction of the community to UVic’s rezoning application. Thanks also to the many residents who wrote individual letters to Mayor, Council and the Planning Department. We have made our voice heard!
At the same time we mark the important progress to date, it is critical to recognize this submission to Saanich marks the beginning of the rezoning process. In the coming months, in consultation with residents of Cadboro Bay, CBRA hopes to liaise with UVic to create a world class, cutting-edge plan for Queenswood that responds to residents’ wishes to preserve the urban forest ecosystem, the semi-rural nature of our community, the heritage and archaeological features and advance sustainability issues. We promise to keep you updated and ask for your continued participation and support.
Elizabeth Borek President, Cadboro Bay Residents Association
