St. George’s has developed plans to “Extend The Welcome” of the church, by adding a new narthex (vestibule) and washrooms on the south side of the church in 2014, and is inviting the wider community to come and take a look at what is being planned.
An “Open House” about the proposal will be held at the church on Saturday, October 19th, from 2–4pm in the Lower Hall. The architect, Charles Kierulf (of de Hoog & Kierulf Architects) will be present, along with members of the planning team, and displays of drawings to review.
Canon Dr. Richard LeSueur pointed out to us that, in light of concerns raised over similar plans seven or eight years ago, this addition does not affect the large maple tree on the front lawn, or its drip-line. “The tree is a desirable aspect of our property and forms, in the summer, a sheltered alternative area for outdoor services,” he pointed out.
In addition, the church will be placing posters in the Village and using other means to convey the invitation to this “Open House.”
