Municipality of Saanich Public Hearing on the Rezoning of 2580 and 2588 Penrhyn Street (includes significant parking variances)
Tuesday, December 3, 2013 at 7:30 PM
Saanich Municipal Hall Council Chambers, 770 Vernon Avenue
A public hearing will be held on Tuesday, December 3, 2013 at 7:30 pm, to allow the public to make verbal or written representation to Council with respect to the rezoning of 2580 Penrhyn Street and 2588 Penrhyn Street from Zone RS-10 (Single Family Dwelling) to a new Zone C-1CBV (Commercial Cadboro Bay Village) in order to construct a three storey, mixed use development with 16 condominium units and 2051 square feet of commercial space.
The developer is asking for a parking variance from the requirement of 15 spaces to 4 for the commercial component, and from 24 spaces to 16 for the residential component. This means only 20 spaces are proposed when the zoning would normally would require 39 – a reduction of almost half. The Saanich Planning Department has recommended approval of these variances.
If you are concerned about parking in Cadboro Bay Village, please attend the public hearing and voice your concerns. If you are unable to attend, enquiries and comments may be submitted to the Legislative Division at clerksec@saanich.ca; they must be received no later than 4:00 PM on the day of the meeting. All correspondence submitted will form part of the public record and may be published in a meeting agenda.
The report(s) from the Director of Planning regarding the above application is available on the Saanich website at:
