Gyro Park improvements work to begin April 28

Saanich Parks have advised us that work is scheduled to begin next week (starting April 28th) in Cadboro-Gyro Park on the accessibility, playground and drainage improvements, as the $675,000 project approved in the 2012 Provincial Community Recreation Grant continues.

Improvements in this current phase include surfacing to provide accessible access to washrooms, picnic tables, playground equipment and the beach promenade.

The playground and adjacent area is the major focus for this project. Saanich Parks planning staff and engineers have developed a plan to refurbish the existing playground area with land elevations and drainage improvements to provide access, free of flooding, year round. The playground equipment will receive a major upgrade, but don’t worry – the much beloved concrete structures will remain.

For further information, see the new information page created on the Saanich District website, where you can also see the complete history of the project, as well as a colour version of the play area concept plan.
