Emergency Preparedness Exercise on May 31 2015

On May 31st the Emergency Preparedness Task Force (EPTF) of the Cadboro Bay Residence Association (CBRA) will be conducting an The Exercise details are as follows:

  • Where: Cadboro Bay United Church,  2625 Arbutus Road
  • When: May 31st
  • Time: 9:30–11:30 AM – Volunteers can arrive at any time but ideally between 9:30 and 10:30 AM

To help make the exercise a success, we need 20 or more “Convergent Volunteers” to participate by showing up at the Command Centre to volunteer (and be assessed / assigned various roles).

If you can help with this and/or have any suggestions, please contact Kevin Pirie.

As well as activating our Incident Command Post and related teams and materials, we will be testing our methods and procedures for:

  1. Receiving Convergent Volunteers at our Command Centre, and
  2. Assigning / Mobilizing the Convergent Volunteers into various roles such as Communications, Search & Rescue / First Aid etc.

In dealing with the Convergent Volunteers we would be following the Guidelines in the Introduction to the Meet & Greet Function, and Guide to Welcoming People with Disabilities.

This would be a very informal exercise as we are still in the preliminary stages of developing our capability to effectively utilized Convergent Volunteers.
We of course would be happy to share what we learn with other local emergency preparedness groups and with Saanich ESS.
The only critical success factor for the exercise is getting enough Convergent Volunteers to come out.
