At a Committee of the Whole meeting on Monday evening, May 4, 2015, the application by SEBA Construction to vary the provision of a land use contract at 2627 Arbutus Road with regard to allowable setbacks, in order to legalize a sundeck built without permit, was rejected by Council in a 7-to-1 vote.
The Cadboro Bay Residents Association, represented
by its Chair, Eric Dahli, shared the Association’s concerns, including the fact
that the resulting setback is less than a quarter of what is allowed under the regulations, and that
approving this deck would set a dangerous precedent.
Concerns for the
park-like, unbuilt portion of McColl Place were also raised by neighbourhood
residents Mr. Bob Furber and Ms. Harriet Graham.
The PowerPoint
presentation graphically illustrated the potential dangers of approving the
amendment to the Development Permit.
