From October 27th

The Draft Haro Woods Management Plan will appear on the Saanich website by October 27th.
Over the past 18 months or so an Advisory Committee made up of local
residents aged from their teens to over eighty and representing all
present users of Haro Woods have, with support and guidance from Parks
staff, been responsible to help review and interpret public input and
ensure that the draft plan represents that input . Over that time the
pros and cons of the different users views have been discussed and Draft
Plan reflects compromises that the Advisory Group have agreed (a team
effort).
A Public Meeting will be held on Thursday November 9th at Goward House (lower hall) from 4 to 8 PM, and like all other Saanich Public Meetings, Advisory Committee members
will, along with Parks staff members, be there to address both queries
on plan content and listen to public input.
The Haro Woods
Management Plan will likely go before Council late this year or early
2018 and will represent, if approved by Council, a great conclusion to
our community’s long battle to preserve Haro Woods as a Natural Park, to
be used in a respectful manner by all users. To this end please look
out for the Draft Plan and read it as it contains many important
details, attend the Public Meeting ion November 9th
and the Council Meeting at which approval of the plan is on the
agenda. Demonstrated large community support will certainly be a big
help to get the plan approved.
