Beach Drive/Cadboro Bay Rd safety improvements update

In reply to a query by Curby Klaibert, Registrar & Spokesperson for the Saanich & Oak Bay Community Safety Network, Daniel J. Horan, Director of Engineering Services at Saanich District provides the following update on the Beach Drive/Cadboro Bay Road safety improvements:

Once the District’s budget was approved in May, we were then able to complete our project planning related to transportation safety improvements.  I am happy to say that I have included the Beach Drive/Cadboro Bay Road project for completion in 2019.  More specifically, we are completing our final design work so that we can finalize our commitments with our contractors (line painting, asphalt resurfacing) and finalize the construction schedule.  When we have schedule commitments from our contractors, we’ll be able to begin sending out our construction notices and posting signs in the area advising residents of our plans.  All of this is likely to happen in the early fall.

Our current estimate (class B) for the project is $6,600, though the final project cost will likely be higher because I may decide to increase the scope of the project and do some significant asphalt resurfacing in that area.

Cheers,

Dan
