Food Truck Pilot in Cadboro-Gyro Park

Cadboro-Gyro Park might have two food trucks operating this summer through the Pilot Food Truck Program.

Saanich anticipates the program will run from July 1 till after the Labour Day long weekend in 2021. But first, Council must grant Temporary Use Permits (TUPs).

Council will consider approving the TUPs at an upcoming meeting this spring.

If approved, selected Food Trucks may operate between 9 a.m. to 9 p.m., seven days a week. Vehicles must leave site by 10 p.m. daily (no overnight parking). A map shows the proposed location near the washroom building.

The Cadboro Bay Residents’ Association (CBRA) submitted a letter to Council that encourages mitigations of any potential issues, such as noise and garbage.

On April 7, 2021,  Saanich provided the following update letter for residents, and invited any feedback to be sent to parks@saanich.ca by April 20.

As the pandemic lingers, the continuing emphasis on outdoor activities makes it likely that there will be more people than ever coming to the park to enjoy its natural beauty and the abundance of diverse activities available. If the TUP is granted for Cadboro Bay Park, it is in all our best interests to proactively address potentially negative impacts on the health of the Park’s environment or its enjoyment by diverse users.
