Dear Chair and Board,
There is increasing concern that the current work plan for Gyro Park, which includes a significant amount of paving, does not respect the natural values of the park – values which were clearly articulated during extensive public consultation with Saanich Parks Department in recent years. There is also concern that the community has been inadequately consulted regarding these latest additions to the work plan.
There is no question the goal of facilitating access to Gyro Park is a laudable one. However, certain elements of the current work plan require a rethink if community values are to be respected.
I would appreciate the opportunity to speak to the issue at the June 11 Board meeting.
