Saanich’s council meeting on Feb 24 was packed with residents with views on Councillor Karen Harper’s proposal to consider banning dogs on Cadboro Bay beach from May to September. Most speakers pleaded to retain the current bylaws – a compromise which restricts dogs to the east side of the outfall for four months in the summer. 260 emails had been sent by citizens on this issue.
The meeting ended at 11.15pm. Saanich Council will consider the topic again at its meeting on Monday March 2. No further speakers will be allowed but the deadline for emails to council@saanich.ca has been extended till noon March 2.
